Earth Day Run has a new location for 2019!
Central Minnesota’s largest and most popular running event – the CentraCare Earth Day Run – has a new location! To mark the 20th year of the event, Earth Day Run is moving from the St. Cloud University campus to downtown St. Cloud. Race weekend is April 19-20, 2019 and will again feature the half marathon, half marathon relay, 5K walk/run and Kids 1K. Registration for all Earth Day events is now open.
Earth Day Run has grown each year and attracts approximately 5,000 participants and 10,000 spectators each spring. “By bringing the event downtown, we can showcase St. Cloud on a larger scale,” said Evin Haukos, race director. “We’re excited to partner with the city and downtown businesses to create an event that makes St. Cloud proud.”
The weekend kicks off on Friday, April 19, with the free Scheels Health and Wellness Expo – the largest expo of its type in Central Minnesota – which is hosted at the Rivers Edge Convention Center. This also includes the Kids Expo, presented by Stride Academy. The Kids 1K and the 5K walk/run will take place Friday evening.
On Saturday, the half marathon races will start on Veteran’s Bridge and finish on St. Germain, which will be closed to traffic from the Paramount Theatre to the River’s Edge Convention Center, allowing for a festive block party with live music, refreshments and outdoor seating.
